First Time in Sri Lanka: Love, Laughter, and a Feast
From the moment I landed, I knew this wasn’t just a trip—it was a homecoming to a place I’d never been. Sri Lanka has that effect on you. It’s not the kind of warmth that hits you in waves; it’s a steady glow that wraps around you, slowly, until you realise you’ve never felt more welcome anywhere else. When I met the family of my host and business partner Jack, they greeted me like I was their long-lost relative. I sat at their kitchen table, overwhelmed by the sheer spread of food in front of me—dishes I couldn’t pronounce but instantly loved. Each bite was like tasting a piece of their history. The spices were bold, the flavours rich, but more than that, I could taste the care that went into making every dish. It wasn’t just food; it was love, expressed in the most delicious way. And as I sat there, belly full and heart content, I realised something: the magic of Sri Lanka isn’t in its sights or sounds, it’s in the kindness of its people—the way they welcome you, as if you’ve always belonged.
